Californian winemaker Mark Shannon fell in love with Puglia after working there briefly as a consultant. He returned with a view to creating the regions single best wine, choosing as his raw materials the premium fruit from 70 100 year old Primitivo vines. In heat steeped 2003, he succeeded admirably in capturing the power and concentration of the vintage. Densely packed with vigorous, opulent black cherry and liquorice flavours, this is a blockbuster style for hearty dishes.
